Senior Saturday returns July 18 with a complimentary breakfast and an opportunity for adults 55 and older to experience the Joe Oswalt Retrospective at the Lee Dam Center for Fine Art.
Breakfast will include breakfast casseroles, biscuits and gravy, breakfast sweets, coffee and orange juice.
The morning offers an opportunity to enjoy the retrospective of the late Joe Oswalt, whose paintings, portraits, wood carvings and restoration work left a lasting mark on northeast Kansas. His artwork often captured the landscapes of Marshall, Nemaha and Pottawatomie counties, while his restoration of the interior artwork at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict earned statewide recognition. The church was later named one of the Eight Wonders of Kansas Art by the Kansas Sampler Foundation.
The exhibition features works loaned by area collectors, friends and the Onaga Historical Museum, providing visitors with a rare opportunity to see paintings and other pieces that are normally displayed in private collections.
Guests also will have an opportunity to learn about volunteer opportunities with the Marshall County Arts Cooperative.
Raffle tickets also will be available for purchase during the event. The raffle is being held in conjunction with Marshall County Arts Cooperative’s Stars, Stripes & Swinging Fore the Arts golf tournament, with proceeds supporting arts programming and exhibitions.
