Come hear the remarkable true stories of women who served during the Civil War as disguised soldiers, spies, scouts, nurses and vivandieres.
“Valiant Warrioress: Women Soldiers of the Civil War” features Rayma Volkmer, a Nebraska-based living historian and owner of Indian Creek Historical Fashions. Through engaging storytelling and historically accurate clothing, Volkmer explores the courage, sacrifice and often-overlooked contributions of women who stepped far beyond the roles society expected of them during the 1860s. She has been bringing history to life through educational programs for more than two decades.
This program is sponsored by the Marshall County Historical Society and OneMarysville.
